'Sweetness and despair'
The idea of project relates to dualism of human nature and his habits. Chocolate is material which joins majority of works - sculptures, objects, installations. For the others – films and pictures – the theme of sweetness become the subject - matter or inspiration. The 'Sweetness and despair' will be the first project exhibited in our gallery, in which visitors will have possibility of participation by means of all senses.

5 TM The Young Triennial 2008

5 TM The Young Triennial 2008
June 21st – October 5th 2008

Curator: Kamil Kuskowski
Centre of Polish Sculpture in Oronsko
ul. Topolowa 1, Oronsko
POLAND

The exhibition is organized under the honorary auspices of the Minister of Culture and Art Bogdan Zdrojewski

Promotion of so called ‘young art’ is an investment in the future. That is why this phenomenon must be located within sight of the patronage and its institutions which realize the cultural policy of a country. At present, it must be stressed, there are between ten and twenty events of all-Poland character whose subject is a presentation of the young generation of artists. These are both reviews and contests, participation in which elevates the status of the participants. Among them The Young Triennial, organized by the Centre of Polish Sculpture (CRP) since 1992, stands out for the openness of the formula and the scale of the enterprise.
The ideological tenets have always highlighted the manifestation of the young generation of visual artists who are selected by their competent peers (artists and critics) in the form of a competition. The Triennial comprehensively presents the creative potential of young generation and the artistic strategies preferred by the artists. It constitutes an attempt at recognizing the newly arising tendencies and trends.
The exhibition aims at diagnosing the current state of art realized by young artists who are given a chance of a spectacular artistic debut.
The Triennial tradition – the fifth edition can be treated as a humble jubilee – refers to the meetings of young artists and art critics initiated at the beginning of the 90s by Prof. Jan Berdyszak, then the Chairman of the Programme Council of CRP. The meetings resulted in the consecutive exhibitions:Places, Non-Places (1992), Status Quo (1996), A Model to Assemble (2000), no titleTM (2004), and as kind of synthesis; The Art of the 3rd Republic, re-presentation of artistic facts Young Triennial (2003), under the auspices of the Minister of Culture.
So far our exhibitions have presented over a hundred young artists. For many of them it was not only a debut but also a beginning of a real career. It is the assessment of artists’ production that decides on the participation, thus it is difficult to predict which disciplines will dominate this exhibition. It is not a show of homogeneous character but a collection of diverse means of artistic expression, often crossing the borders between traditional disciplines. A significant value of our presentation is the possibility of creating new works. The Centre offers its technical assistance. The place itself, because of its nature, makes an additional inspiration for the projects which may come to special life in its space.
This broad openness and a lack of strict rules cause that the Triennial keeps its major place on the artistic scene. There are thirty three artists (including groups) that have been qualified for the current edition and they originate from various cities. They represent all artistic disciplines and actions of performance type.

Participants:
Piotr Adamski, Tomasz Bajer, Wojciech Bąkowski, Olaf Brzeski, Agnieszka Chojnacka, „Truth” Krystian Czaplicki, Wojciech Doroszuk, Wojtek Gilewicz, Marek Glinkowski, Arti Grabowski, Andrzej Karmasz, Michał Kopaniszyn, „Dwaesha” Paweł Kowzan, Kobas Laksa, Alicja Łukasiak, Artur Malewski, Przemysław Matecki, Jan Mioduszewski, Tomasz Mróz, Laura Pawela, Aleksandra Polisiewicz, Marta Pszonak, Karol Radziszewski, Matylda Sałajewska, Michał Stachyra, Mariusz Tarkawian, Andrzej Wasilewski, Zorka Wollny, Agnieszka Zwolińska, Dziewczęta Przeszanowne: Marcelina Gunia, Natalia Turczyńska, Karolina Stępniowska; Galeria Rusz: Joanna Górska, Rafał Góralski; Grupa Sędzia Główny: Karolina Wiktor, Aleksandra Kubiak

Just Different!

I‘m happy to invite you for the exhibition 'Just Different!' in Cobra Museum of Modern Art in Amstelveen/Amsterdam. The show is featuring my videos and photos from Fag Fighters project.

14.06 - 21.09.2008
Cobra Museum of Modern Art
Sandbergplein 1
Amstelveen, Netherlands

'Just Different!' is the challenging title of an art exhibition about sexual desire, gender and identity construction in the visual arts at the turn of the 21st century. Disregarding for the moment the heterosexual dominance of much of our daily life, it reveals instead alternative lifestyles such as homosexuality and transsexuality. In over 100 artworks by some 47 national and international artists the exhibition gives an impression of the sheer wealth of images that the exploration of sexual identity has yielded. There will be works by Gilbert&George, Nan Goldin, Marlene Dumas, Wolfgang Tillmans, Marlene McCarty, David Hockney, Robert Mapplethorpe, Hans-Peter Feldmann and many others. The exhibition is accompanied by a publication.
