My "Backstage" film at the "Self-interpretations" exhibition in Budapest / opening today at 7pm, at Studio Gallery.
Fiatal Képzőművészek Stúdiója
Rottenbiller utca 35, Budapest
Foucault. Butler. A young man in the bathtub. Sitting in a fetal position his legs against the slippery walls with little space. The naked body is his, I guess, and maybe the woman’s body too sitting on a chair, but tight lines shove into her flesh, the bloodless skin is tight on her arms and belly too. It’s personal. Systematic discrimination. The clothes are comfortable, cotton, it’s sleeves are sewed to the side. How to reach them? Every morning beginning from the start, going centimeter by centimeter, reaching oneself further and closer in the same time. Familiar moves. Their space is private. Staring, roosters are sitting on the boy’s arms, their freely hanging, red wattles are erotic.
With the questioning of the stability of identity categories and philosophical axioms obtained through socialization, furthermore with the reveal of the arbitrary nature of moral value judgements, we can clearly see that self-realization is a constant, performative act. The exhibition hosts eight young artists’ intimate, often self-reflective works intended for the public. The pieces examine the complex relationship between personal and aesthetic, while the wider socio-cultural context of the topics can give way to a new interpretation of our discourse of bodies and roles.
Participating artists: Flóra Aranyi [HU], Anna Ádám [HU], Jakub Ceglarz [PL/UK], Ádám Dallos [HU], Karol Radziszewski [PL], Roland Korponovics [HU], Zsuzsanna Simon [HU], Róbert Szabó-Benke [HU]
Curators of the exhibition: Zsuzsanna Iricsek, Jan Elantkowski
The exhibition is open from July 9th until July 16th.

Perhaps it's because of today's Father's Day that I'm in a mood and decided to share with you the documentation of my old diploma project created in my parents' house in 2004.
"Radziszewski thoroughly rearranged his parents' house in Bialystok. For the organising motif he chose an ornament remembered from childhood - a floral pattern from a fabric from which the curtains and the upholstery were made in Radziszewskis' home. As he grew up, the fabric disappeard from the family landscape, only to return in the shape of a monumental mural painting covering the house's inner walls.
As part of the project Radziszewski also changed the decor of his younger brother's room, and painted his parents' full-scale portrait on the wall of their sleeping room. Other walls were decorated with portraits, repainted from photographs, of the family members, including the dog. The artist's relatives took an active part in executing the project."
